The time of day we schedule our session can dramatically influence the style of the images you receive. On a sunny day, the best time to shoot is within an hour or two of sunrise or sunset. This is called the Golden Hour, or Best Light. During these hours, the sun is low, the light is warm and shadows are long. Shooting outside these hours can limit our scenery options as we typically have to stay in the shade or strategically position ourselves so the sunlight isn’t harsh or casting unflattering shadows.

Of course there are other things to take into account as well. Client’s personal schedules, Kiddos’ Nap time and Bed time. I totally get it and want to schedule based on a time that will work best for everyone.

The truth us, we can shoot anytime! I can make any lighting work and we will still capture lovely images. But lighting is the most important element in photography and the time of day matters. If you are longing for the golden light images that are typically on my feed, I recommend shooting in the hours above.
